Privacy policy
This policy explains how we process the personal data of people who visit the Borghi di Sicilia website and of those who contact us, under Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003).
Data controller
The data controller is Borghi di Sicilia, VAT no. 07136110827. For any question about your data or to exercise your rights, you can write to info@borghidisicilia.com.
What data we process
Browsing data
While you browse, the systems that run the site automatically record some technical data, such as your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page visited and the type of browser. This data keeps the site working and secure and is not used to profile visitors.
Visit statistics
Only if you accept statistics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited, data processor) to measure visits and pages read in aggregate form. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time from “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of the page. We have switched off Google Signals and the use of data for advertising; Google Analytics keeps the data for a maximum of 14 months. Google may also process it in the United States, under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Data you send us
If you write to us through the form on the Contact page or by email, we process the data you provide: name and surname, email address, phone number (optional), subject and text of the message. Please do not include unnecessary information, in particular health data or other special categories of data.
Why we process it and on what legal basis
- To answer your requests and assess possible partnerships: pre-contractual measures taken at your request and our legitimate interest in replying to you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
- To keep the site working and secure: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To comply with legal obligations or requests from the authorities: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
Sending the form data is optional, but without your name, email and message we cannot reply.
How long we keep it
Messages received are kept for as long as needed to handle the request and afterwards for no longer than 24 months, unless a partnership has begun or the law requires longer storage. The form does not save messages on the site: it forwards them to our mailbox. Browsing data is kept by the hosting provider for the period required for security purposes.
Who may receive the data
The data is processed by authorised people at Borghi di Sicilia and by the providers who help us run the site, appointed as data processors, such as our hosting and email providers. The data is never sold or disclosed.
Links to external sites
The site contains links to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Google Maps and the websites of the recommended businesses. They are simple links: no content from these services is loaded until you open them. Once you are on their sites, their own privacy policies apply.
Your rights
At any time you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict its processing, object to processing based on legitimate interest and receive your data in a structured format (Articles 15–22 GDPR). Write to info@borghidisicilia.com: we will reply within one month. If you believe that the processing breaches the law, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Cookies
You will find the list of cookies used by the site, and the choices you can make, in the cookie policy.
Updates
This policy may be updated, for example if the services used by the site change. The version in force is always published on this page. Last updated: 25 October 2026.
