PROVINCE OF TRAPANI · BY THE SEA
Erice, a fascinating village set on the hills of western Sicily, captivates visitors with its medieval atmosphere and breathtaking views.

Founded by the Elymians, a people formed by natives and Trojan exiles, the village came under Carthaginian rule and became an important Phoenician military centre. Other significant periods were the Arab and Swabian ones. The cobbled streets and ancient churches take visitors on a journey into the past, while the picturesque squares offer the renowned local pastries. Thanks to its privileged position, Erice offers a panoramic view over the sea and the Egadi Islands. A true Sicilian gem.

“Dolci da riposto”, almond paste pastries filled with citrus preserves, and “genovesi”, pastries filled with custard.
Erice was home to a pagan sanctuary dedicated to the goddess of love.
