Cookie policy

This page explains which cookies the Borghi di Sicilia website uses, under Article 122 of the Italian Personal Data Protection Code and the Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority on 10 June 2021.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser to remember some information, for example to keep a session active. Some are essential for the site to work (technical cookies); others are used to measure visits or to show personalised advertising (analytics and profiling cookies).

Which cookies this site uses

Borghi di Sicilia uses technical cookies, which the site needs to work, and, only with your consent, the statistics cookies of Google Analytics. It uses no profiling or advertising cookies.

Technical cookies

  • bds_consent: remembers your choice about statistics cookies, so the banner does not come back on every page. Lasts 6 months.
  • wordpress_test_cookie: checks that the browser accepts cookies when an editor signs in to the reserved area. Lasts until the browser is closed.
  • wordpress_…, wordpress_sec_…, wordpress_logged_in_…: keep editors signed in to the reserved area. They last until the browser is closed, or 14 days if “Remember me” is chosen.
  • wp-settings-… e wp-settings-time-…: remember the display preferences of the reserved area. They last up to one year.

The law does not require consent for technical cookies.

Statistics cookies (Google Analytics)

If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, to find out in aggregate form how many people visit the site, where they come from and which pages they read. We have switched off Google Signals and the use of data for advertising; Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. Google may also process the data in the United States, under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

  • _ga_F0TQ8WBB81: keeps the state of the current visit. Lasts 13 months.

Your choice

On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept statistics cookies: “Reject” and the × keep only the technical cookies. Your choice lasts 6 months and you can change it at any time.

External services

The fonts are hosted on the site itself: no external service is contacted to display them. Details on how data is processed are in the privacy policy. The links to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Google Maps and the businesses’ websites are simple links: these services can use their own cookies only when you open their pages, under their own policies.

How to manage cookies

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings: you will find instructions in the help pages of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge, in the section on privacy and cookies. If you block technical cookies, signing in to the reserved area of the site may not work.
